I am proud to announce that I will be the Artistic Director for the 2012 Unity of dance festival in Orlando, Florida May 3rd-7th, 2012, presented by Bahhri productions. Held at the beautiful Sheraton hotel in downtown Orlando, The Unity of dance festival unites different forms of dances including Salsa, Bachata, ChaCha, Tango, Rumba, Bolero, Hip Hop, and more from top professionals in the industry. Wide range of workshops for complete beginners all the way to the most advanced student. Evening showcases will be full production with a wide variety of shows including latin dancing (salsa, bachata, mambo, Cha Cha Cha, merengue), ballroom dancing, samba, live drum show, and even a magic show. This concept will keep the audience engaged and on the edge of their seat through the entire showcase.

The New Angeles Salsa Kids are a new youth group to hit the Los Angeles Salsa Community. Created by Edwin Rivera, This youth team represents both New York and Los Angeles. They are the first Youth dance company in Los Angeles dancing NY style on2 but with an LA style on1 flare.
We are raising money to help this extraordinary youth group represent Los Angeles at the 7th Annual Children teen salsa congress in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

finally got to go to my first live pro wrestling show. I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve been a fan of pro wrestling for over 25 years now and I finally got the chance to see a live showing. On April 20 to 22 Calgary will welcome the Salsa world’s best international performers and world famous salsa promoter Albert Torres for a weekend of Workshops, Performances, Salsa Music, Dancing, and a qualifying competition for the World Latin Dance Cup.

WATCH:
International salsa showcases Friday and Saturday evening by the best Salsa dancers in the world, local professionals, and dance troupes from all over North America.

DANCE:
Each night will finish with a salsa party. Rub elbows with the show’s star performers to the sexy music of salsa, and new this year a Saturday tango room, and our reggaeton bachata room! Party until 3am!

LEARN:
Optional daytime workshops are available for experienced and first time dancers who want to take part in the action. Learn from the best teachers in the world in many styles of dance. Over 20 hours available. Workshops include salsa, cha cha, tango, burlesque, body movement, stretching, and many more!

The Calgary International Salsa Congress will have something for everyone! Amazing shows, inspiring workshops, exciting competitions, great music, a beautiful location, and the warmth of the people of Calgary.

I have a confession to make. For those of you who don’t know, I am a huge professional wrestling fan. Especially WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). I’ve been a fan since the Hulk Hogan era! (I ain’t that old ok). But I’ve never been to a live showing of WWE. I’ve only watched it on T.V. For the first time in my life, I am going to watch a live WWE show but not just any live show, Wrestlemania 28. Held this year in Miami, Florida!!!! I honestly still can’t believe that i’m going to wrestlemania, I will keep you all posted with pictures…..I’M GOING TO WRESTLEMANIA!!!!!

Edwin Rivera @ SALSA FESTIVAL MÜNCHEN 8-10 JUNI 2012: Soul of a Dancer – Puerto Rico/ New York. In der Welt von Tanz und Musik ist Edwin Rivera ein bekannter Name geworden. Er ist für junge Menschen ein Vorbild geworden die Hindernisse des Lebens zu überwinden, sich seiner Wurzeln bewusst zu werden und sich von den Ketten seiner Herkunft zu befreien.
Sein Beispiel zeigt, dass Strenge, harte Arbeit und Entschlossenheit Träumen wahr werden lassen. Edwin wuchs in der Bronx als Immigrantenkind aus Puerto Rico in New York auf und wurde streng in der Tradition seiner Eltern erzogen.
Als Jugendlicher wollte er sich von den Traditionen befreien und stürzte in die Welt von Gangs und Drogen. Als seine Mutter sah, dass sich ihr Sohn auf dem Irrweg verlieren würde, drängte sie ihn zu tanzen, Salsa zu tanzen, um ihm die Chance zu geben seinen Weg wiederzufinden.
Sie hatte die richtige Entscheidung getroffen. Rivera nutze die Musik und den Tanz und sein Leben wurde zur Inspiration. Edwin Riveras Album „Soul of a Dancer“ ist nur das erste seiner Werke.

Best prank ever on Crazy Sunday!!!

Finally recovered from the 8th annual Texas salsa congress. This years texas congress was unbelievable. Every year it just keeps getting bigger and better. I first want to thank Ruby Rivera and the whole Texas salsa congress organization for putting together such an amazing event. Thank you Ruby for always raising the bar every year and making this congress a unique experience for everyone. John Jay, you did a wonderful job Mc’ing on that stage this year. You were on fire. Just like every year my brother!! To all the instructors who put their heart & soul’s into each workshop, performance but most importantly the social dance floor. At the Texas salsa congress we always manage to put together the perfect blend of artist who truly love what they do. Thank you. I gotta say, one my highlights of the weekend was being able to watch Fania All-Star Legend Ismael Miranda with Groupo Caliente. Thank you Ismael for giving us at the Texas salsa congress such an incredible concert. I was on cloud 100 as I witnessed some of the best young musicians come together to accompany “El Nino Bonito de la salsa”. Ismael Miranda! As Ismael Miranda said, “Houston has a gem, and that gem Groupo Caliente”. Thank you Jose Diaz, director of Groupo Caliente for always polishing that gem to shine brighter everyday!! Thank you to all the Texas teams who blew me away with their wonderful shows. Texas is evolving and i’m loving where the direction of salsa is heading in the state of Texas. Shout out to the first timers. Thank you for choosing the Texas salsa congress as your first congress experience, I hope your experience was a memorable one and I will see you next year.
